Ham Sungjoo (b.1990, Korea) has been transforming images displayed on screens into paintings using digital media. Influenced by his parents' arcade business and his childhood experiences, he has continuously worked on embracing and reinterpreting digital images, imbuing them with a painterly aura. In this exhibition Inner Portrait, Ham presents new works such as Cdi Mapplethorpe, Straight Sword, Brittany Noon for Walk, GIANNI VERSACE FALL, and Resonance, which evoke the equipment selection screens from online games. Additionally, he will showcase the White armor that frequently appears in his work. These pieces draw inspiration from the way game interface equipment slots symbolize character and power, incorporating and arranging images related to the artist himself on each canvas to create self-portraits.
