Eunu Lee 이은우 (b.1982, Korea)
이은우는 조각 재료의 물성 자체가 지닌 질감, 색상, 모양, 무게 등이 주는 느낌에 중심을 두고 작업을 발전시킨다. 작가는 각기 다른 출처와 용도를 지닌 사물에 대한 이야기와 개인의 기억을 떠올리며, 사물 간의 시각적, 내용적 균형에 초점을 맞춘 작업을 만들어간다. 이번 전시 《내면의 초상》 에서는 오래전 사둔 재료들, 길에서 주운 오브제들, 인터넷에서 구매한 값싼 물건들을 활용해 친숙하면서도 낯설고, 애정이 있으면서도 잘 알지 못하는 대상들에 대한 이야기를 담은 <여성형 키리코>, <외국 할머니>와 관계성에 대한 작가의 사유를 재현한 <정물>, <고원>, <얼굴> 등을 선보인다. 각각의 특성이 다른 재료들이 균형을 이루며 완성된 작업은 마치 다양한 사연을 가진 사람들이 조화를 이루며 하나의 사회 속에서 살아가는 모습과 닮아 있다.
이은우(b. 1982)는 한국종합예술학교 조형예술과에서 예술사와 예술전문사 학위를 취득했으며, 현재 서울에서 거주하며 작업하고 있다. 주요 개인전으로는 《손길 모양》(서울시립 북서울미술관, 2023), 《직각 마음》(프롬프트 프로젝트, 2022), 《쌍》(송은아트스페이스, 2021) 등이 있다. 최근 참여한 그룹전으로는 《내 책상 위의 천사》(팩토리2, 2023), 《거의 정보가 없는 전시》(부산현대미술관, 2022), 《오브젝트 유니버스》(울산시립미술관, 2022) 등이 있으며, 다수의 그룹전에 참가한 바 있다. 작가의 작품은 서울시립미술관, 송은문화재단, 경기도미술관 등에 소장되어 있으며, 2023년 서울예술상 시각분야 최우수상을 수상했다.
Lee Eunu (b.1982, Korea) focuses on the inherent qualities of sculptural materials, such as texture, color, shape, and weight, in her work. The artist draws on stories related to objects with different origins and purposes, as well as personal memories, creating pieces that emphasize visual and conceptual balance between objects. In the exhibition Inner Portrait, Lee presents works such as Feminine Kiriko and Foreign Grandmother, which use materials collected over time, objects found on the street, and inexpensive items bought online to explore themes of familiarity and strangeness, affection and unfamiliarity. The exhibition also features Still Life, Plateau, and Face, which reflect the artist's thoughts on relationships. The completed works, formed by materials with diverse characteristics, resemble people from various backgrounds living harmoniously within a single society.
Lee Eunu (b. 1982) earned her degrees in Art History and Art Studies from the School of Visual Arts in Korea, and currently lives and works in Seoul. Her major solo exhibitions include Touching Shapes (SeMA, Seoul Museum of Art, 2023), Right-Angled Mind (Prompt Project, 2022), and Pair (Song Eun Art Space, 2021). Recent group exhibitions include Angels on My Desk (Factory2, 2023), Exhibition with Almost No Information (Busan Museum of Contemporary Art, 2022), and Object Universe (Ulsan Museum of Art, 2022). Lee Eunu's works are included in the collections of the Seoul Museum of Art, Song Eun Cultural Foundation, and Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art. Also, She was awarded the 2023 Seoul Art Award for Visual Arts.
